Imagine living your whole life ignoring the eternity that will come, then ending up spending your eternity wishing you hadn’t ignored it all. You looked past the signs and warnings that said: “Repent now! Jesus saves.”, “Heaven is for real! But so is hell.” and “Come to Jesus. He is the only Way!”
Well, maybe there were moments when you thought about it, you know, eternal life and all… but it was quickly shoved back into the “things we don’t talk about” box in your mind. Now you are next in line to face the judgement of God, Whom you never knew, Whose existance didn’t matter much to you and you can’t do anything about it now.
Everything you did and chased was for NOTHING. Your fame and comfortable retirement. Your poverty and the tears you cried for vanity. Whatever the case may be… It doesn’t matter now. You missed the point, when it was always there right in front of you. You didn’t take Jesus’ hand when He was always reaching out to you.
Or maybe you did, or you thought you had. You went to church every Sunday, sometimes you prayed and talked about Jesus. You got baptised and joined youth groups. You even helped out the community and gave to the poor. You did everything right, right?
The guy in front of you in the line is crying and screaming at the Lord… He is saying “Lord, Lord but I was Your servant! I was a pastor and an evangelist, I prayed, I worshipped and I obeyed.”
“You did not know Me, son.” the voice of God replies.
The hairs on your back rise and you feel your heart turning into ice. “Why? Why didn’t you get to know Jesus while there was still time?”
News flash, here is your chance. Jesus is coming back! Stop caring what other people think, they will not be facing your judgement. You will.
It is not your works that get you into heaven, but it is your personal relationship with Christ.
The reason you worship Jesus should not be because you want to go to heaven, it should be beacause He shed His blood and died on the cross for YOU. If eternal life is simply a gift from God to those who love Him, what else does He have planned for His children?
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—
1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV
